I LOVE thick milkshakes. You know, the kind that are so thick that you pretty much need a spoon to devour it. Forget the straw when enjoying these kind of shakes, it just won’t work. Another great thing about milkshakes is the flavor combination possibilities are endless. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I plan on surprising my husband and kids with this yummy M&M’s® Red Velvet Milkshake Blast that I just whipped up. I also love those thick milkshakes you can get at restaurant with all the yummy things mixed in. Cake, candy pieces, fruit, you name it. This is my take on one of those thick and delicious shakes.
Valentine’s Day is special in our house. We have lots to celebrate! We not only celebrate Valentine’s Day but also our wedding anniversary – 23 years and counting! This Valentine’s Day, I’m sharing the #RedVelvetLove of M&M’s® Red Velvet with the loves of my life, my husband and kids.
This thick milkshake is a win-win situation for everyone in my family. Daughter Gabby loves anything red velvet, son AJ loves milkshakes and hubby Anthony loves anything sweet. So, I decided to combine each of their likes into a fun and delicious milkshake that I plan on serving them on Valentine’s Day. Sweet treats are the best! It is also a quick, no-bake dessert for everyone – yet another win-win.
Have you checked out WalMart’s candy selection lately? They have a lot of Valentine’s Day candy to choose from. I purchased the two bags M&M’s® Red Velvet candy that I needed (one to eat and one to use for the recipe) as well as a bag of DOVE® Promises. These are two classic candies that I love to eat any time of the year. I found both types in the seasonal candy aisle.
To make this super simple milkshake, I start by melting cream and M&M’s® Red Velvet in a saucepan.
By doing this, you are creating a M&M’s® Red Velvet syrup that will be used as the flavor base for the milkshake. Be sure to let the syrup cool completely or it will melt your ice cream, and you don’t want that to happen!
Once the syrup is cool, I fill up the cup to my milkshake maker with 3 heaping scoops of vanilla ice cream. I also pre-measure all the other ingredients so everything is ready to go. If you don’t have a milkshake maker, use a blender. It works just as well. Blend everything together EXCEPT the crushed M&M’s® Red Velvet. You’ll mix these in last.
Now this is the good part. After I mix the ingredients together, I slowly add the chopped M&M’s® Red Velvet to the thick milkshake. At this point, you can either mix them in by hand or turn you milkshake blender on low for a few seconds to incorporate. It is so thick and creamy with wonderful chunks of M&M’s® Red Velvet throughout! Yummy!!
To top it all off, I wet the rim of my glass and dip into some of the crushed M&M’s® Red Velvet that I did not add to the shake.
It’s all about presentation and my family is going to absolutely love this confectionary concoction!
