I love Pinterest! In fact, I think I am slightly addicted to it. It is my go-to site for ideas and inspiration for practically everything. Since it is such a wonderful resource, I thought I would periodically write about something that I have pinned, whether it be something I made myself or an idea I pinned from someone else.
Since Mother’s Day is right around the corner, I thought I would start with a kid-friendly craft that I created and pinned to my “Crafts” board. Here is My Pinteresting Idea! – Chalkboard Flower Pots! Why not surprise that special mom, grandma, aunt or friend in your life with a chalkboard flower pot. It’s a very simple project. I even created a few for our store.
Here’s What You Need:
*Chalkboard Paint (I used the kind in a spray can because I think it applies more evenly)
*Terra Cotta Flower Pot
*Ribbon, stones, silk flowers or any embellishment you choose
*Cement adhesive (you will need to supervise kids when using this)
Now the process is simple. Simply spray pot with chalkboard paint. Apply evenly and allow to dry and spray another coat. Let dry. Once pot is dry, embellish top rim of pot with ribbon (or any embellishment you like) using cement adhesive. For these, I simply cut ribbon to fit around rim and glued into place.
Once glue is dry, fill the pot half way with potting soil. Remove plant or flower from its existing pot and replant in the chalkboard flower pot. Write the name of the plant (or any saying you wish) on the outside of the pot. Don’t forget to water you plant!
This project is so simple and makes a perfect gift for that someone special. I love the idea of gifting plants, especially at Mother’s Day, because they can be enjoyed for a long time.
