Bakery Buttercream Frosting

This easy buttercream frosting is a perfect topping for any cake, especially Annie's Blue Ribbon Chocolate Cake.

  • Bakery Buttercream Frosting
  • 1/2 lb. butter 2 sticks at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons solid vegetable shortening
  • 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3-4 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract


  1. In mixer, beat butter until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add shortening and beat well for 2 minutes.
  3. Gradually add condensed milk, confectioners' sugar and vanilla or almond extract.
  4. Beat well until light and fluffy. Makes 3 1/2 cups of frosting.
