Meet Melissa
Hi there! My name is Melissa and I am the farm girl behind The Farm Girl Gabs®. I’m a Jersey girl, born and bred, married to hard-working farmer Anthony and mom to Gabby – 19 and AJ – 16.
Just as the name of this blog says, I am a farm girl – a working farm girl. I live and work on our family’s 500-acre fruit and vegetable farm, in South Jersey, which was founded by my husband’s grandfather in 1940. We have two busy retail markets as well as a large wholesale operation. We grow a large variety of Jersey Fresh produce – pretty much everything from A – Z including corn, tomatoes, peaches, apples, pumpkins and string beans to name a few. We work hard and I am proud to say that our Jersey Fresh produce gets shipped all over the country. It’s Jersey Fresh at its BEST! We also have 2 acres of greenhouses in which we grow spring bedding plants, mums and poinsettias. As you can guess, things get pretty hectic on the farm.
Prior to becoming “the farmer’s wife” I graduated college with a degree in Communications. I worked in the healthcare Public Relations and Special Events field for 12 years. I really enjoyed it but jumped at the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom. Oh yeah, how can I forget?? I love anything Disney. My family thinks I am a little “Disney” obsessed but it makes me happy, and life is about happiness. Right?!
About The Farm Girl Gabs?
The Farm Girl Gabs is a leap of faith for me. I have been cooking since a young age, thanks to my mom. With a big family, food seems to be a way of life and I love to share my dishes with family and friends.
This blog is a perfect fit for my life on the farm. I dish up easy and delicious farm fresh recipes using our Jersey Fresh produce, write about the great big garden that surrounds me (our farm), share some helpful gardening tips and crafty ideas and even rant and rave about my love for Disney, my kids, family life, and everything in between.

Meet The Kids
Say hello to Gabrielle and AJ. At 19 and 16, Gabrielle and A.J. keep my husband and I hopping. They are our pride and joy. Gabby is our quiet artistic one. She is currently a freshman at Emmanuel College in Boston. Gabrielle is a very talented artist and is majoring in Art Therapy. Sigh…where has the time gone? I will miss my little girl but am so happy for her to spread her wings and fly.
AJ is our outgoing athletic child. He high school freshman. He is involved in many different sports, but his true passion is lacrosse. He is also known as the life of the party around here, always saying something silly. AJ defines courage. He suffered a very bad injury recently and has undergone multiple surgeries over the last year and a half. The strength, courage, and determination he possesses amazes us.
Meet Anthony
Anthony is my hard working farmer, to whom I have been married to since 1992. Yes, we were high school sweethearts. He is a wonderful husband and great father. To say he works hard is an understatement because farming is a hard job. Seven days a week and many long hours, Anthony helps to keep our farm moving in the right direction.
