Materials You Need To Make A Gnome Christmas Ornament
Here are the craft supplies you need to make these adorable Gnome Christmas Ornaments.
Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Yarn by Lion Brand, Wheat
Felt Sheets (I used maroon, forest green and grey but you can choose any color you like)
Solid unfinished wood ball, ¾” diameter
Wood circles, (size ¼” diameter) or Wood Buttons
Printable Gnome Hat pattern (Download Here)
Hot glue gun and clear glue sticks
How To Make A DIY Pom Pom Gnome Ornament
Gather materials and preheat the hot glue gun.
Take one end of the yarn and begin wrapping it loosely around the palm of your hand, approximately 50 times. Cut a 5” long strand and secure that around the wrapped yarn, removing your hand. Tie the strand into a tight knot around the wrapped yarn.
Cut the yarn loops to form pom-pom. Put pom-pom aside for the time being.
Paint the surface of the wood circles in gold paint. Put aside to dry.
Print out the gnome hat pattern (download here). Place the pattern on top of the felt sheet and cut along the solid line.
Wrap the felt into a cone-shaped gnome hat using a wooden dowel (or pencil) to help wrap the felt around leaving a small opening at the cone tip. Glue the overlapping edges of the felt cone-shaped hat to hold in place.
Cut a piece of twine 20” long and fold in half. Tie the cut ends of the twine around the pom-pom. Thread the looped end of the twine through the hole at the top of the hat. Pull on the twine loop to force the hat on top of the pom-pom.
Glue one wood ball to the bottom edge of the hat. Glue two painted wood circles onto the front of the hat as shown.
Trim any really long and uneven yarn ends, while keeping the yarn in the center front the longest to mimic the gnome beard.

I’m really digging black, white, and plaid lately. These are super cute and look great on your repurposed coat rack . I’m crazy about the initial on velvet! They look super sweet hanging on those hooks. Wow, those turned out great. I would have never thought to make ornaments out of embroidery hoops. So simple and so cute. Thanks for the idea

Hi,I am lucky enough to have both sets of the kids’ grandparents live nearby and they are our “daycare” during the workweek. My mom is often looking for crafty ideas so I’ll pass this on to her. She’ll love it, too! Renewable Energy Investing

Hi, Christina. I’ve never tried it with the plastic ones but I think the ingredients would slide around just fine. If you try it send me a message or leave a comment and let me know if it works.witneycouriers
