As I embark on my winter journey through the month of January, there is one this I like to focus on….keeping warm! Winter gives me a perfect reason to curl up next to a fire with a nice book and a cup of hot tea. So far, mother nature has blessed us with only one snow but the temperatures have ranged from unseasonably warm, to cold, to downright freezing. Speaking of tea, did you know that January is National Tea Month? I am a big tea drinker. It’s the perfect way to warm me up during the winter months and get me going all year long.
Dunkin’ Donuts has relaunched its hot tea offerings with a brand new lineup of premium hot teas, available in five vibrant flavors. The new premium hot teas are now available at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide. Dunkin’ Donuts is a daily ritual for my husband and I. We each like to stop there when we are out and about to fuel up on coffee or tea. They offer on-the-go guests a wide range of delicious food and beverage options, including hot and iced coffee, espresso beverages, frozen beverages, iced tea and new premium hot teas, along with a selection of sandwiches and baked goods.
Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I am always thinking of fun and unique gift ideas to give to family and friends. A box of Dunkin’ Donuts new premium tea along with an easy handcrafted DIY Valentine Heart Mug makes a perfect gift.
Here is what you need to make your own DIY Valentine Heart Mug:
- White Mug (I found mine a the dollar store)
- Adhesive Stencil Paper
- Gold Oil-Based Marker
- Rubbing Alcohol
Before you begin, clean the mug with some rubbing alcohol. While the mug is drying, draw a half a heart to shadow the shape of the handle. Place the stencil on the mug to form the other half of the heart right near the handle. Using your gold oil-based marker, start dotting the outline of the stencil and the handle. Keep dabbing and dotting until the heart fills in and you like the way it looks.
Allow paint to dry and then remove stencil. Take your marker and write LOVE (or whatever sentiment you want) on the inside of the heart. Place the mug on a baking sheet. Place the baking sheet (and mug) in the oven. Turn on the oven to 350 degrees. Set the timer for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, turn oven off and let the mug cool completely in the oven. This process will set the paint. I would recommend hand washing to protect your beautiful masterpiece.
This custom mug is the perfect way to send a little love to family or friends this Valentine’s Day. Pair it with a box of one of the new Dunkin’ Donuts premium hot teas. You will definitely make someone very happy. Don’t forget to grab a box of Dunkin’ Donuts tea for yourself too.
