Halloween is just around the corner and I have whipped up another fun Halloween treat today. These Mummy Bread Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart Muffins are my hauntingly fun version of that famous Monkey Bread you probably have had at some point. This version is just as easy as the original but uses King’s Hawaiian Original Dinner Rolls instead of biscuits.
I love serving King’s Hawaiian rolls. Their slightly sweet flavor is so good! King’s Hawaiian offers a variety of products that make for an exciting mealtime. But did you know that their dinner rolls aren’t just for dinner? They can be used to make delicious desserts like these muffins.
I was first introduced to monkey bread at a friend’s house many years ago. It’s an easy recipe and perfect for a crowd. Since I love to create fun Halloween snacks and desserts, I added a fun twist to celebrate Halloween with this traditional recipe. Preparing them in muffin tins instead of a cake pan is great for portion control too.
Mummy Bread Recipe Tips and Instructions
Step 1:
Cut each King’s Hawaiian roll into eight pieces. These sweet rolls will serve as the base for the Mummy muffins.
Step 2:
In a medium bowl, mix two eggs, milk, and vanilla. Quickly dip each piece into the egg mixture, just to coat. Don’t oversaturate. Then, roll into the sugar mixture. This mixture is similar to bread pudding or french toast.
Step 3:
Place about eight pieces of the sugared roll into each lined muffin tin. Press them slightly so they stick together.
Step 4:
Melt butter, brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl or microwave-safe small pitcher. Drizzle melted butter mixture over each Mummy muffin. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
Step 5:
When the muffins are cooled completely, drizzle each with the glaze. Add two candy eyeballs to the top of each muffin.
Step 6:
To decorate, fill a piping bag or food storage bag that is fitted with a flat tip with your favorite vanilla icing. Pipe thick lines over the top of the Mummy pull-apart muffin to represent the gauze.
Kids will love this ghoulish treat this Halloween. Head on out to your local supermarket and pick up a package of King’s Hawaiian Rolls and make a batch of these fun Halloween treats. It’s a spooktacular snack the whole family will love!
