Disney Brings My Two Favorite Childhood Movies Back To Life: Mary Poppins Returns & Christopher Robin
Here is a fun fact about Melissa. Mary Poppins in my favorite Disney movie of all time. Hands down! I can still remember watching the movie with my parents as a child. You see, my love for Mary Poppins never went away. I can often be heard quoting lines from the movie to my family and friends. It’s not that I am practically perfect in every way, I just really love everything about Mary Poppins. When I heard that there was going to be a sequel, starring Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins and the beloved Lin Manuel Miranda as her friend Jack I got just a “little” excited. Well, maybe more than a little. A lot excited. Mary Poppins Returns arrives in theatres everywhere on December 25, 2018.
Here is a first look at the new Mary Poppins Returns teaser trailer:
MARY POPPINS RETURNS stars Emily Blunt as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure; Lin-Manuel Miranda as her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London; Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks; Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks; and Julie Walters as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen; with Colin Firth as Fidelity Fiduciary Bank’s William Weatherall Wilkins; and Meryl Streep as Mary’s eccentric cousin, Topsy. The film also introduces three new Banks’ children played by Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and newcomer Joel Dawson. Angela Lansbury appears as the Balloon Lady, a treasured character from the PL Travers books and Dick Van Dyke is Mr. Dawes Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth’s character.
Winnie The Pooh and friends is also making its return to theaters (and the Hundred Acre Wood). Did you know that I still have my original Winne The Pooh stuffed animal that I received for my second birthday? Such wonderful memories of that huggable bear. We were given a special sneak peek of the upcoming live-action adventure, Christopher Robin, at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration several weeks ago. We even heard first-hand from the movie’s producer Kristen Burr. The movie stars Ewan McGregor (think Lumiere from the live-action Beauty & The Beast and Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars) as Christopher Robin. The young boy who embarked on countless adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with his band of spirited and lovable stuffed animals, has grown up and lost his way. Now it is up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin remember the loving and playful boy who is still inside. Christopher Robin arrives in theatres everywhere on August 3, 2018!
