DIY Mickey Mouse Keychain
Isn’t this adorable! This DIY Mickey Mouse Keychain is a super simple Disney craft. It is also a great fish extender gift to make for your upcoming Disney Cruise.
Sigh. Re-entry into the real world is no easy task. If you have been following along on my adventures on social media last week, you know that I was at the 2017 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration Land and Sea. After an amazing six days spent between Walt Disney World and sailing on my first Disney cruise, I am finding that reality is not my friend today. I left a tropical location and 80-degree weather behind only to return to 35-degree temperatures here in New Jersey. Not fair!
Our Disney land and sea adventure was truly magical. I will be sharing a lot more about the conference, our trip to the parks and cruise soon. But first, I want to share with you this fun and super easy DIY Mickey Mouse Keychain I made before we left. It is a super easy Fish Extender gift to make if you are planning on participating in the Fish Extender Exchange on a Disney Cruise. What is a fish extender? When I first heard about this, I thought it was something to attach to a fishing pole. No joke. A fish extender is a voluntary gift exchange between Disney Cruise guests that started aboard the Disney Magic. Guests started this gift exchange by hanging a bag to the fish hook and the Fish Extender was born. The gifts that go in the fish extender can be anything – homemade or purchased.
Now you can make your own DIY Mickey Mouse Keychain. Who wouldn’t love a little Mickey to hang on their keys? Here is what you need to make these keychains.
- Stiff Black Felt
- Stiff Red Felt
- Stiff Yellow Felt
- Key Rings
- Scissors
- Glue Gun
- Hole Punch
- Red Grosgrain Ribbon
- Chalk Pencil
- Mickey Mouse Template – (download here)
Download the Mickey Mouse Template. Cut out each and trace the Mickey head onto the black felt and the pants onto the red felt. Use a hole punch to cut out the buttons on the yellow felt. Glue the pieces together.
Cut a 4-inch piece of ribbon. String the key ring through the ribbon. Glue to seal shut. Then, turn Mickey over and glue the bottom end of the ribbon to the back.
Have you ever been on a Disney Cruise? Did you ever participate in the Fish Extender? These DIY Mickey Mouse Keychains are simple enough to make. As Mickey would say, “They’re swell!”
