There is something about the fall season that makes my head spin. Between a busy farm life, back to school and a gazillion activities, it is a crazy time of year. Thankfully, shopping at Walmart for groceries and back to school needs allows me to stay on top of all the essentials I need for my pantry. One way that allows me to catch my breath from the fall frenzy is to meal plan. Planning and preparing dinner in advance is a real time-saver. Plus, it’s one less thing to worry about. This Grilled Chicken Parmesan Pasta Bake is a family favorite that I often make ahead so we still have time to enjoy a hearty family dinner before running out the door to the next activity.
One ingredient that I always have on my pantry shelf for a quick meal like this is Prego® Traditional Italian Sauce. It has a homemade taste my family loves and is made with real ingredients. Since we are pasta lovers, Prego® Italian Sauce comes in very handy when I want to create a simple meal for the family.
Another reason why I like making this dish so much is that it essentially is a one-pot meal. With the exception of the cutting board and knife to cut the chicken, making this Grilled Chicken Parmesan Pasta Bake is a breeze from start to finish. The ingredients can all be mixed in the same pot you boiled the pasta in. Bonus points for less pots to clean!
Chicken parmesan is my favorite dish to order out! So I put a spin on the my favorite meal by using grilled chicken, Prego® Italian Sauce, and mozzarella cheese and mixing it together with rotini pasta to create this easy pasta dish. Another way to save time in preparing this dish is to pre-grill the chicken breasts and freeze them until ready to use. I always keep grilled chicken in my freezer for salads and meals like this one.
The perfect balance of Prego® Italian Sauce’s sweet and savory Italian flavor paired with the grilled chicken, cheese, and fresh basil make this a winning Italian recipe. This simple meal makes dinner easy. It can be easily made in advance, frozen and then reheated when needed. I like to stock up on all my pantry needs at Walmart. The Prego® Italian Sauce can be found in the aisle with the tomato and pasta sauces. Other must-have staples for my pantry are Campbell’s® Condensed Tomato Soup, Campbell’s® Condensed Chicken Noodle Soup and V8 Splash®. A stocked pantry is a good thing!

- 1 lb box rotini pasta
- 1 jar Prego® Italian Sauce traditional
- 2 - 3 grilled chicken breasts cubed
- 3 cup shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- ¾ cup fresh basil chopped
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and pour back into the pot it was cooked in.
- Add the Prego® Italian Sauce, chopped grilled chicken, 2 cups of shredded mozzarella and provolone, 1 cup of parmesan cheese and fresh chopped basil.
- Mix together and pour in a greased 13 x 9 baking dish. Top with remaining mozzarella and provolone cheese. Cover with aluminum foil and bake 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted.
