So, I feel I really need to apologize friends. I have totally been slipping this season in the Christmas craft department. It’s time to get my Christmas Ornament crafting game back on point. So, today I am going to make it up to you by sharing one holiday craft that serves two purposes. These Wood Slice Ornament Gift Tags are part ornament, part gift tag. These can be personalized for each gift you give and then the recipient can hang on their tree.
Here is a little backstory about these gift tags/ornaments. Over the years, I have accumulated a large number of rubber stamps. When the kids were younger and I spent more time at home with them, I used to love creating stamped cards and projects.Well, now I have a ton of stamps that need to be put to good use. I love the rustic look of wood slice crafts, so I found a fun way to utilize both.
Supplies Needed To Create your own Wood Slice Ornament Gift Tags
- 2-3″ Wood Slices
- Holiday Stamps
- Black Stamp Pad
- White Craft Paint
- Watercolor Markers
- Paintbrush
- Twine
- Gold Sharpie Marker
Begin by painting each side of the wood slice with the white paint. All to dry completely. I left a little margin so the wood can still be seen.
Press your stamp on the black ink and transfer to the wood slice. Allow the ink to dry. Color in each design with the watercolor markers.
Write the recipient’s name on the opposite side along with the year. Thread a piece of twine through the hole and tie. Attach to your package and you are all set to spread some holiday cheer.
If you don’t have watercolor markers, you can use some paint or Sharpie markers to color in the stamps.
Definitely making these with my daughter this year. She’s been all about painting lately so she’s gonna love it.
I am going to apply these concepts with my kids next Christmas. These are really helpful and creative ideas.
