I loved the movie Coco. But I will be honest, I can’t watch it without a box of tissues right beside me. This film is about family, passions and tradition. The film follows Miguel’s dream of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Now, enter this easy DIY Coco Pumpkin. While I didn’t take the time to draw a full sugar skull on a white pumpkin, (because I can’t draw to save my life ; ) ) I simply recreated the colorful headband worn on the popular Mexican holiday.
So here is my BIG secret on how I created this adorable pumpkin. I found this Day of the Dead headband in the costume section at the craft store. I removed the flowers and veil by using a blow dryer to loosen the glue.
Used the glue gun to adhere to the top of the pumpkin and BAM! A sugar skull Disney Pixar Coco Pumpkin was created. I am all about easy folks. And this is about as easy as it gets. Yes, you can recreate this if you can’t find a headband like above. Grab some colorful flowers and tulle at the craft store and use them instead.
Now go forth and celebrate Halloween. And eat candy….lots of candy!
