Returning to school after a glorious summer break is tough for all parties involved. The Kids aren’t quite ready, the parents aren’t ready and this often leads to chaos and crankiness. Re-establishing a back to school routine can be challenging for all parties involved. Kids are adjusting to a new school year while parents are adjusting to a once again hectic schedule with both in-school and after-school schedules. It’s a juggling act that often leads to us dropping the balls. Right? But, with a little organization and planning, your family’s back to school routine can be smooth sailing. I promise. I am no expert, but I can say that I successfully ushered two kids through the elementary, middle school and high school levels (well almost all of high school – AJ is still a junior). And, I have learned a few things along the way that I want to share with you.
Ways to Rock Your Back To School Routine

I don’t have to tell you that breakfast is the most important part of the day. But I will. “Breakfast is the most important part of the day.” says Melissa. Think convenient, simple breakfast ideas to help get the family out the door quickly. Omaha Steaks Butcher’s Breakfasts are a great way to start the day to fuel the family up. Create A Work Center
Have a centralized location for all the important school “stuff”. It can be a desk, whiteboard board or a combination of both. Create a space that both you and the kids can use to organize all the school and family activities. Create a cool space where they can even do homework.
Be Prepared
When you kids get home from school, sit down and go through their backpack with them. Sign any papers the night before so they are you are not running out the door with them with a pen in hand. Yep. Been there, done that. As they get older, they will become more independent but I still always ask my son if he has homework to do or anything for me to sign.
Pack Ahead
Pack school lunches the night before. Preparing lunches ahead of time is a huge timesaver for busy moms and dads. Also, make sure your child packs up his or her backpack the night before as well. This way, there is not stress in the morning.
What are some of your tips for rocking your family’s back to school routine. Getting back in the groove is an adjustment. But it can be easy if you prepare ahead of time AND eat a hearty breakfast like Omaha Steaks Butcher’s Breakfasts.
