Walt Disney World is The Happiest Place on Earth and I truly think that the thought of visiting the park will put a smile on anyone’s face. However, your wallet may not be smiling. If you have ever visited a Disney Parks location, you are probably well aware that the cost is quite high simply for admission, your room, and the stay itself but throw in food and souvenirs?

You’ll be spending quite the pretty penny.

I am all about saving money where I can and finding the best ways to make the most of a trip without breaking the bank. Today I am going to be sharing with you a few of my personal favorite tips for saving a little bit of cash when you visit Mickey Mouse.

Money Saving Tips For Walt Disney World

1. Get a Discount on Your Tickets: First and foremost if you are going to buy your tickets from Disney directly, do NOT wait until you get to the gate! Buying your tickets ahead of time online will save you at least a few dollars per ticket, and if you have multiple people to buy for…this will save you a bundle!

To save even more, you can actually also buy tickets from a third party discount ticket service to save even more cash, just ensure that if you are going to do so that they are an authorized Disney ticket seller. I always recommend Undercover Tourist.

2. Sign Up for Disney E-Mail: Signing up for the Disney email will save you money for your trip as well! Don’t miss out when they offer discounts and savings, by being a part of the club you will be in the know and you can snag up the opportunities that are sent via email in order to make the most of your trip.

3. Bring Your Own Drinks/Snacks: Did you know you are able to bring in your own food and drink at Disney? I highly recommend packing a backpack filled with non-perishable snacks and refillable water bottles to save a ton of cash. Food and drink prices are highly inflated at theme parks, avoid this cost all together with preparing ahead of time.

4. Get Your Disney Merchandise Ahead of Time: When you visit stores around Disney Parks they have a lot of Disney merchandise that is half the cost and just as good. Etsy also has some fun and creative Disney shirt ideas too.

Instead of spending boatloads of money on your Disney attire and trinkets, get them at a local store before visiting the park and you can wear them during your visit for the full experience!

Or better yet, MAKE YOUR OWN!

5. Bring Your Own Stroller: If you have little ones with tired feet attending the park with you, be sure to bring along your own stroller. You will want to avoid the costs of stroller rental at the park. I know you’re probably thinking paying for stroller rental is more convenient than dragging in your stroller.

Trust me, the convenience does not outweigh the costs.

6. Pass on Photopass: Photopass is a great option that is offered to Disney visitors that wherever you see a Photopass photographer, they will take your photo around the park for great family memories. What a lot of people don’t know is that they will also take a photo for you with your own camera, free of charge!

Skip the Photopass and simply ask them to take your photo for you with either your camera or your phone. You may not have the fun little animations and things that they add to your photos, but you will save quite a bit of money.

7. Take Advantage of Your Little One’s Age: Children under the age of 3 are free for Disney visitors, be sure to utilize that window of free admission the best you can. Children’s tickets are nearly the same cost as adult tickets so you will certainly want to save money while you can.

8. Buy Up Disney Gift Cards: Whenever I am planning a trip to Disney I like to try to get as many gift cards as I can before my trip. Disney gift cards are accepted almost everywhere throughout the Disney Parks. I always like to utilize holidays and birthdays and recommend that people buy us Disney gift cards as gifts to plan for our trip. This will save you money having other folks chip in with you.

Pro Tip: Purchase Disney Gift Cards at wholesale clubs like BJs and Costco and save money. Also, you can purchase Disney Gift Cards at Target, use your Target Credit Card if you have one and save money that way too.

These are some of my favorite things that I have found have been useful in trips to Disney that I have planned. Disney is definitely not an expense that we can afford regularly but it is nice when we get the opportunity to visit.

Whether you have the money or not, it’s always nice to save a little bit of money if it is unnecessary expenses. I hope these tips help you save the big bucks as much as they have helped us out.
