No matter how old our children are, as parents, we still worry about their well-being. I am trying really hard to embrace the fact that my oldest will be heading off to college in early September – five hours away from home. While I am so excited for all the opportunities that lie ahead, I am a worrier. As the college shopping is almost complete, the one important thing that I will definitely be sending along with Gabrielle is a College First Aid Kit. Late study nights, stress and whatever daily elements Gabrielle faces may lead to sickness and fatigue.
I like to be positively prepared when sickness may arise. There are certain medicines that always have a spot in my medicine cabinet, so naturally, I made sure these were included in this College First Aid Kit.

I like to find ways to recycle containers that are taking up room on my storage shelf. Washi tape is a fun way to add some pizzazz to anything. I have a slight obsession with Washi tape and have accumulated a lot of rolls. It’s fun and I like to put it on everything.
I found an old cookie tin in my cabinet. I thought it would be fun to repurpose it to house Gabrielle’s College First Aid Kit. But, I needed to make it look cool and girly first. To decorate it, I sprayed it with some adhesive glue on the tin. This helped the Washi tape adhere better. I then randomly added various size strips of Washi tape to the lid and side.
Once it was complete, I applied some decoupage to the entire tin to seal the tape. After it dried, I added a “College First Aid Kit” label to the center of the lid.
This is such a fun container that will fit perfectly in my teen’s college dorm room. I made sure I filled it up with all the first aid essentials too! It’s always good to be prepared. Sending this College First Aid Kit along with Gabby on her college journey gives me peace of mind knowing that she will be positively prepared if necessary.
I love how you upcycled this tin. Washi tape is such a fun way to decorate things like this! #client
