I am a firm believer that it’s OK to show your #DisneySide any day of the week – not just when you are visiting one of the Disney Parks. Whether you are traveling to Walt Disney World {or any of the other Disney Parks}, hosting a Disney Side At Home Celebration, or just want to declare your love for all things Disney like I do, here is a fun tutorial on how to create your own Disney shirt.
The best part about this whole project – it takes only 15 minutes to make! That’s it! I love simple craft projects.
Here is what your need to Create Your Own Disney Shirt:
Relaxed Fit Tee
Heat n’ Bond Ultra Hold Iron-On Adhesive
Mickey Mouse Template
Colorful Fabric (look on the remnant pile at your local craft store)
Iron & Ironing Board
Contrasting Thread to match the fabric (optional)
Sewing Machine (optional)
Heat your iron up to high. Make sure it is set to NO STEAM. Begin by ironing the Heat’n Bond Ultra Hold Iron-On Adhesive to the OPPOSITE side of your colorful fabric according to the package instructions. It’s simple but if you are unsure, read the directions.
Cut out the Mickey Mouse Silhouette to make a pattern. Trace the pattern on the opposite side of the fabric. If you are making more than one shirt, try to find a bigger piece of fabric so you can trace more than one pattern at a time.
Cut out your pattern and peel off the paper backing.
Now, position the Mickey iron on transfer where you want it on your shirt. Once you have it in place, iron it in place. Go back and forth, making sure you iron the entire transfer.
If you want to get extra fancy, you can use your sewing machine to stitch a zig-zag pattern along the outside edges. I don’t sew so I asked my mom to do this step for me. It’s totally optional and the shirt looks great either way.
I love the way these Disney Shirts turned out. I made myself one for the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. I also made them for the Disney Side At Home Celebration I hosted for my girl scout troop.
Fun and easy – that’s my kind of craft! Have a Disney Day!
I used to do this for fraternity sweaters, but instead of sewing the edges, I’d use fabric paint to seal them off. They lasted forever!
I love DIY projects like this. These shirts turned out to be cute!
I love the prints you chose! Mickey Mouse is my favorite!
I’m attending a Minnie Mouse themed kid’s bday party soon and guests are encouraged to get in on the fun. I think I’ll make this for myself, my daughter and a couple for the bday girl! Thanks for posting!
My granddaughter loves Mickey Mouse.we would love doing this together and her to wear.
This is a great idea for a Disney shirt! I would love to make one!
