Disney is really killing it with the wonderful live-action movie remakes of the classics. Of course, I pretty much love anything the Disney does. There is definitely a lot to look forward to this year when it comes to Disney live-action movies, including Aladdin and The Lion King. But next up on the Disney Movie docket is the live-action Dumbo.

To celebrate the release of Dumbo, I created these adorable Dumbo Cupcakes. Or maybe I should call them popcorn cupcakes. You can go to the circus without enjoying a box of freshly popped popcorn. Whichever you choose, let’s just agree that they are pretty darn cute!

I’m not going to lie, Dumbo was not one of my favorite movies growing up. I just remember watching it and crying as a young child. Judging from my reaction when watching the preview of the new live-action version, I have a feeling the adult version of me will be doing the same. Dumbo is a movie that definitely tugs at our heartstrings. But this time I will be prepared and bring a box of tissues with me to the movie theater.

This is such a cute recipe for kids to make. It is also a great recipe idea for a circus-themed party. I used a doctored up box cake mix to make the cupcakes, but you can certainly make yours from scratch.

Don't just fly, soar! #DumboThe “marshmallow popcorn” is what really sets off these cupcakes. Use your scissors to snip the tops of the miniature marshmallows. This gives the effect of popped popcorn. Set aside until you ice the cupcakes.

Now the fun part, stick the marshmallow popcorn on the icing. Use some Wilton Yellow Color Mist to color the popcorn. This makes it look like butter.
