How To Make Hot Cocoa Bomb Cups

Are you a hot chocolate fan? These Hot Cocoa Bomb Cups are a fun gift to make for the holiday season. Learn how to make this easy DIY holiday food gift. Shaped like actual cups of hot cocoa, Solo Cup Chocolate Bombs are filled with hot cocoa mix, marshmallows and other delicious hot chocolate ingredients (think caramels, and peppermints).

Melt the chocolates according to the package instructions. Make sure you do not over-melt or they will burn.

Place the cups upside down on a cutting board. Using the X-Acto knife, carefully cut a line down of the cup. Place a piece of tape on the cut line to secure it in place.

Pour in the white and dark chocolates in an alternating pattern around the side of the cupTwist the cup as you do this (to create the swirl effect).

Turn the cup upside down on a piece of parchment to allow any extra chocolate to drip off and cover the entire of the cup.

Place the cup in the freezer for 7-9 minutes to set. Once set, add 1 tbsp hot chocolate mix to the cup. If you are adding any other special ingredients, add them now. Add more melted chocolate on top of that filling it 3/4 full. Return to freezer to harden for 18-25 minutes.

Turn the cup upside down on your cutting board and make cuts in the rim of the cup all the way around it. Carefully, peel off the cup, starting at the original long slit on the side.

Instead of adding hot cocoa powder to the center, just fill the cavity up with chocolate and let sit in the freezer for 20-30 mins until hardened. Remove and embellish.

  • 2 ounces Chocolate almond bark, melting wafers or candy melts
  • 1 ounce White almond bark, melting wafers or candy melts
  • 2 tablespoons Hot Chocolate mix
  • 10 Mini marshmallows
  • Holiday sprinkles
  • Miniature Candy Canes
