Root Beer Float Cocktail blends the traditional cold root beer with creamy vanilla ice cream. Whipped cream vodka is added to give this adult drink an extra kick.
Yesterday was National Root Beer Float day — and I totally missed the boat. Sigh…..
Sorry folks. Note to self: keep better track of all these National Food Holidays. There are so many I can’t keep up!
I had originally planned to share this recipe with you at a later date but since it’s Friday (woo hoo), AND since yesterday was National Root Beer Float Day, why not celebrate TODAY with this Root Beer Float Cocktail. So, I am a day late and a dollar short in celebrating National Root Beer Float Day but that’s OK. We’ll celebrate “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere Friday” now to kick off the weekend.
Root beer floats bring back such wonderful memories of my childhood. I always remember my mom and dad making them for me. I love the fact that you can slurp a little with your straw and scoop a little with your spoon. The COLD root beer and the COLD ice cream equals a delicious fizz…..I love the fizz!
Now that I am all grown up, a Root Beer Float Cocktail is a fun twist to an old favorite. Whipped Cream Vodka is added in addition to the root beer and ice cream. I am kind of obsessed with Whipped Cream Vodka at the moment. Vanilla vodka will also work very well with this drink.
Can we talk about the root beer for a second. It has to be cold! The colder the better – or else your ice cream will melt. And, it has to be Stewart’s Root Beer. Really it doesn’t, you can use any root beer you like, Stewart’s just happens to be my favorite.
And, after a long day working at our farm market, there is nothing better than sitting down and enjoying a nice COLD Root Beer Float Cocktail. Summer is slowly slipping away so I savor the warm summer nights, the kids home from school and the crazy farm life that we lead just as much as I savor every sip of this drink.
To childhood memories and summer – Cheers!
