5 Practical Disney World Planning Tips

Book the Right Room

You can’t really go wrong when you book a Disney hotel in Walt Disney World. Unless, of course, you don’t weigh your options beforehand. The hotel you choose will have the first impact on your experience based on expense, location, convenience and overall theming.

Not to mention some hotels have many more amenities than others. Before you book your room, make sure you weigh all the options, and remember that Disney World is a very big place, so location does matter.

Save The Dates

As your check-in date comes closer there are things you can do in preparation as certain dates approach. Make sure you save the dates for when you will be able to make dining reservations and when you can select Fastpass+ options. These dates are incredibly important and the longer you wait, the lower your chance is of getting the restaurants, or attractions you want. Dining reservations may be made 180 days prior to check-in. Fastpasses are at 60 days (30 if at a non-Disney hotel). Remember the option becomes available at 7:00am EST.

Mark Your Calendar

As you actively plan your vacation and solidify your reservations be sure to fill in your calendar with where you are going and when. Keep track of park hours, resort days and anything else that will help you keep your vacation straight.

The more you visualize your trip the better you can work out the logistics and know which areas are open to scheduling changes.

Plan your Arrival

One important aspect of your Disney World planning, especially if you live on the west coast, is your arrival. The flight is so long and the time change can really impact how much you are able to do on your arrival day.

Consider how you want to deal with this, whether you want to add an extra day or try a redeye flight that will have you getting in early. In most cases, yo will probably not plan much other than dinner. Just remember how tired you will likely be. Try to get an early start on your first full day.

Plan On Less

While you work out your Disney World planning, remember to factor in setbacks. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. In fact, count on doing less than you reasonably think you will be able to. Plan on crowds, breakdowns, weather changes, anything that can slow you down.

Make sure that you are able to change things up if need be, and try to adjust your expectations so you are not disappointed when you don’t do everything.
