Everyone deserves a little pampering. I am a huge advocate of self-care. As a busy working mom, I often have to remind myself to take care of me. Often, as most moms do, I put others needs ahead of mine. I am a nurturer, so I am always worrying about Anthony and the kids (even though they aren’t kids anymore). It’s just what I do.
The winter months are brutal and the cold weather takes such a toll on our skin. I am embarrassed to say that right this very moment, my skin feels drier than the Mojave desert. Really! So some pampering is in order. In fact, it is long overdue. These DIY Sugar Scrub Cubes are the perfect way to treat yo’self to some much-needed pampering.
I have shared a few sugar scrub recipes and bath bomb recipes here before, like Cinnamon Sugar Scrub, Peppermint Sugar Scrub and Tropical Lip Scrub, and they are a perfect way to pamper yourself. These DIY Sugar Scrub Cubes are too.
I used Ylang Ylang, Bergamot and patchouli essential oils in this recipe. They have powerful benefits when combined. They help you relax, are natural sedatives, relieve stress, lower anxiety and relieve depression. They are great for your skin and are a natural astringent.
- • 6 cubes of clear glycerin soap base (each cube is approx. 1 oz.)
- • 1/4 cup coconut oil
- • 1/4 cup avocado butter
- • 1 cup white sugar
- • 10-20 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
- • 10-20 drops Patchouli Essential Oil
- • 10-20 drops Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
- • 1-2 teaspoons of colored mica powder
- • Silicone flower mold
Step 1: Place the soap base in the microwave and melt for 30 seconds, stir and repeat until completely melted.
Steps 2-3: Now place the avocado butter in the microwave and melt for 30 seconds, stir and repeat until completely melted. If you have solid coconut oil, add that to the avocado butter and melt together.
Step 4: Add the bergamot essential oil.
Step 5: Add patchouli essential oil.
Step 6: Add ylang ylang essential oil.
Steps 7-8: Add the colored mica powder and mix until well incorporated into other ingredients. If you want a natural color, you can leave out the color. These mica powders are totally safe and will not stain your skin.
Steps 9-10: Add the soap mixture to the sugar and mix until a thick paste is formed.
Step 11: Press the mixture firmly into mold and allow to set for a minimum of 2 hours. I usually let mine set for 24 hours. Store in an air-tight container or Ziploc bag until ready to use.
