Now that the weather is finally warmer, it’s time to take all the fun outside. Summer entertaining is my favorite time of year. I just love the laid-back, casual atmosphere of sitting around the pool with family and friends and of course taking the kitchen mess outside by cooking on the grill. Summer is the perfect time to celebrate for any reason! No celebration of any kind is complete without these fun DIY Monogrammed Glasses that I made with Sharpie Paint Markers. It’s amazing how creative you can get with a simple paint marker and a clear wine glass.
I have a secret obsession for Sharpie Markers. I think I have every color imaginable, times two, in my office. When I found a package of these Sharpie Paint Markers at my local Michael’s, my other secret obsession, I just had to have them. Be sure to check your local newspaper and online for Michaels coupons while supplies last.
These easy DIY Monogrammed Glasses scream summer. They represent all that summer is about. They are not too formal, lots of fun and really simple. If you can draw a dot and dab, then you can make these fun glasses too.
Here are the supplies you need:
Set of 4 stemless wine glasses
Die Cutting Machine (optional)
Rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs
I begin by wiping each glass with some alcohol. Make sure you dry the glasses too. Then, I cut out the four letter Rs on the vinyl stencil using my die-cutting machine. If you don’t have a die cutting machine, then you can trace your own monogram on the vinyl and cut out with scissors.
Now the fun part. I adhered a monogram stencil to each of the glasses. Choose your favorite color or colors of Sharpie Paint Markers and dab around the outside edge of the letter. The paint dries pretty quickly. Continue dabbing and building outward. You can mix in different colors too like I did. If you mess up, that’s ok. Dip a cotton swab into some rubbing alcohol to clean up the area. These markers are so easy to work with. They can be used on virtually any surface too and are resistant to water, fading and abrasion. Sharpie Paint Markers are also AP Certified and Xylene free.
Once you achieved your desired “look” of the glasses. Place them on a baking sheet. Place them in a cool oven. Set the oven to 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, turn the oven off and let glasses cool completely. I recommend washing these glasses by hand too.
What a fun and creative way to celebrate summer. Thanks to Sharpie Paint Markers, I was able to create these really cool glasses. I can’t wait to sit by the pool and take a sip from these beauties.
Will it come off in the dishwasher?
I recommend washing by hand. I paint is cured but like most painted glasses, the design can rub off washing improperly.
Good idea! I have to try to do
