Happy November. I am so excited that the holiday season is finally here. As soon as Halloween ends, I eat, sleep and sometimes drink all things Christmas (and Thanksgiving too). This easy DIY Buffalo Plaid Christmas Hoop Wreath is a simple Christmas craft to make yourself.
I really love the casual farmhouse style. More and more, I find myself gravitating toward farmhouse decor. Chip and Joanna really started a cool trend. So naturally, I like to continue that look for Christmas as well.

I like easy Christmas crafts. Buffalo check (or buffalo plaid) are an important part of the farmhouse style. You see this popular fabric pattern a lot, especially during the holiday season. This Buffalo Plaid Christmas Hoop Wreathincorporates buffalo plaid and also a vintage red truck.

How To Make A Buffalo Plaid Christmas Hoop Wreath
Step 1
Line up the fabric over the smaller inner hoop making sure the Buffalo Check pattern is to your liking. Place the outer hoop over it with the screw piece at the bottom. Then tighten the hoop screw while pulling the fabric taught. Cut off the excess fabric from the outside of the hoop.
Step 2
Remove the fabric from in between the hoops and lay flat. Place the smaller hoop on top, again positioning the check pattern appropriately. Then begin hot glueing the fabric to the outside of the hoop. Start by wrapping the fabric upwards on the outer side and glue an area of about 3 – 4”.
Then pull the fabric tightly to the opposite side and glue another 3 – 4” of fabric. This keeps the check pattern in the desired place. Repeat this process until all the fabric is glued to the hoop. Let the glue dry then place the larger hoop over the smaller hoop and tighten the hoop screw.
Step 3
Remove the sparse branches and pinecones from the Pine Branch picks, leaving just the Christmas Tree style fir branches. Snip the Red Berry pick in half and cut two sprigs from the Astilbe pick. Depending on the shape of your Eucalyptus bunch, you may not need to snip it apart.
I ended up snipping it into one larger bunch and a smaller sprig so all the leaves would face outwards from the hoop. I didn’t want any of the sprigs to stand upwards towards the inside of the hoop.
Step 4
Shape the pine branches to the curves on each side the hoop with the ends overlapping onto the large screw piece. Snip off excess stems and hot glue the pine branches in place. Next, hot glue the berry sprigs on top of the pine, then the Astilbe sprigs over the berries. Fill in the center area with the Eucalyptus sprigs.
Step 5
Make a burlap bow by cutting 4 pieces of burlap ribbon. Two 13” pieces, one 15” piece and one 4” piece. Make each 13” piece of ribbon into a loop by overlapping the ends and hot gluing them together.
To make the bow, take these two loops and lay them flat on top of each other. Make sure the glued areas are in the middle. Pinch the middle edges together, making three ripples in the fabric. Hold tightly and wrap with floral wire.
Take the 4” piece of ribbon and fold it in half lengthwise. Add a few dots of hot glue to keep it folded. Then fold it in half lengthwise again and secure with two dots of hot glue. Wrap this piece around middle of the bow and secure with hot glue.
Use the 15” piece of ribbon for the tail of the bow. Fold over near the middle and spread apart the tail pieces. Scrunch up slightly and hot glue to the back of the bow. Snip a “V” into the bottom of the tail pieces. Glue Bow to the top of hoop.
Step 6:
Remove sign and green tree from the Truck Ornament. Hot glue the White Bottle Brush Tree to the back end of the truck. To hold the ornament in place, take one of the pinecones removed from the Pine Branch pick and hot glue it to the inside of the hoop. Position the Truck at a slight angle to the wreath and hot glue it to the pinecone.
