  • 8 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tube purple gel food coloring (optional)
  • Toppings:
  • Mini Halloween marshmallows
  • Whipped cream
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Heat one cup of milk in a microwave safe container for one minute.
  2. Pour the remaining milk and heavy cream into the bowl of the slow cooker.
  3. Whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add the warm milk and stir until the ingredients are smooth and well combined.
  4. Add the cocoa mixture to the milk and cream and stir to combine.
  5. Place the lid on the Crock Pot and set to cook on low for four hours or high for three hours.
  6. When ready to serve, remove the lid from the slow cooker and add the food coloring. This step is optional. It adds the purple tint to the hot chocolate for Halloween.
  7. Carefully stir the hot chocolate with a whisk until the food coloring is evenly mixed into the drink.
