Everything You Need To Know About the New Disney Plus Streaming Service
There is a new streaming service in town. Here is everything you need to know about the NEW Disney Plus Streaming Service which launches on November 12, 2019.
If you are a fan of all things Disney, then you better mark your calendar for November 12, 2019. This date marks the launch for the brand new Disney Plus Streaming Service. Here are details about Everything You Need To Know About the Disney Plus Streaming Service.
What is Disney Plus?
Disney Plus is an ad-free subscription streaming service that launches on November 12, 2019. The cost is $6.99 a month (for now?) or $69.99 a year. While it is launching in the United States initially, it will go global in about two years.
What Content Will Disney Plus Have?
This is where things get good! Disney Plus will be a family-friendly platform, meaning that nothing R rated is allowed. Disney Plus Streaming Service will be home to the Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars movies us Disney fans love. While every movie will not be available immediately, Disney assures us that they will all be available within the first year.
In addition, it will be home to family-friendly 20th Century Fox movies. The service will also be home to around 7,000 episodes of television. And, if you are a Simpsons fan, you will be able to watch all 30 seasons of the hit show thanks to the new acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Since Disney owns a piece of Hulu, you will be able to watch the non-family-friendly shows on that platform.
The Disney Classics
Those classic Disney films that are often “in the vault” will be available on Disney Plus. These include Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, Pinocchio, Bambi, The Lion King, Lady and the Tramp, Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid.
New Original Series From Marvel And Star Wars
Disney+ will be home to new original shows from both Marvel and Star Wars. While a few of our favorite Marvel Characters were dusted in Avengers: Infinity War, they will live is a series of six to eight episode mini-series on this platform. So far Disney has announced the following Marvel series: Loki (hello Tom!), WandaVision, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier (oh hey Sebastian), Hawkeye, Marvel What If?, plus a few more on the way.
As far as Star Wars programming goes, we can expect The Mandalorian, a live-action Star Wars TV series being developed by Jon Favreau; a new season of The Clone Wars exclusive to Disney Plus and a Star Wars Rogue One prequel TV series starring Diego Luna.
New Exclusive Movies & Shows
Disney is planning a slate of original movies created just for Disney Plus like Noelle, the Pinneus And Ferb Movie, and a remake of A Sword And The Stone. Some of the original shows planned are a High School Musical series, a Muppet Series and an Escape To Witch Mountain series.
Disney Channel Favorites
When the service launches, you’ll be able to catch 5,000 episodes of Disney Channel shows and 100 Disney Channel Original Movies.
Pixar Movies, Shorts & Shows
Within the year, all Disney Pixar films will be available. The Pixar shorts will be ready to watch on launch day. There are also plans for a few Pixar shows like Forky Asks A Question, Lamp Life, Monsters At Work and Spark Shorts
National Geographic Shows
You will also be able to watch National Geographic shows on this new streaming service.
Will There Be Parental Controls?
There sure will. So if your kids are not ready for movies like Avengers or Rogue One, you can set parental controls until they are ready to view.
Can I Download Movies or Shows?
Oh yes! This is such an awesome feature. Keep your kids occupied and download your favorite movies or shows. Just make sure you have enough space on your tablets, cell phones, or portable devices.
What About Netflix?
The Disney movies you viewed on Netflix will no longer be available on Netflix. You’ll get to watch those Disney Favorites over on Disney+.
Personally, I will be keeping Netflix in addition to my Disney Plus subscription. You can’t beat their original movies and programming. I think it’s the best of both worlds. Parents can keep Netflix for the more mature material while subscribing to Disney+ for the wonderful family content. Let me know what you think about this new service. Leave a comment below.
