So 2020 has definitely been a year to remember. So many things have been affected due to the current pandemic. But this gives us a wonderful opportunity to get our creative juices flowing and think outside the box when it comes to seeing friends and family.
Newsflash! Halloween is not Canceled!
Having a super fun fall holiday like Halloween land smack dab in the middle of this is no exception. I have some fun social distancing Halloween ideas to create a spooktacular socially distanced Halloween. When it comes to socially distancing Halloween ideas, we have to think outside the box. The key this year is how to celebrate Halloween 2020 safely.
Be sure before you do any of these activities that you decorate your house with pumpkins, Halloween decorations, mums and outdoor Halloween decor. Here are some fun outdoor fall decorating ideas.
Try these social distancing Halloween ideas.
Trick Or Treat At Home
Bring the trick or treating fun for your own kids into your home. This idea is much simpler. Have your kids dress up in their Halloween costumes. Set up a candy bucket or treat bucket in various rooms of your house and have your children trick or treat from room to room.
Social Distance Trunk or Treat
Participating in a trunk or treat is definitely possible even during a pandemic. You can still decorate your trunks to the hilt. Just make sure you park further apart from each other, keep your distance and make sure everyone wears a mask.
You can even trunk or treat in your driveway too. Set up a table so trick or treaters can enjoy a candy or treat. Show off your fancy trunk or treat display. I love when people go all out with their Halloween Trunk Or Treat creativity.
Host a Social Distanced Halloween Scavenger Hunt
Plan a socially distanced scavenger hunt for friends and neighborhood kids. Instead of inviting everyone over into your home, provide them with a scavenger hunt checklist (DOWNLOAD YOUR COPY HERE), that they can take with them and look for the items on their own with their family.
To follow no contact rules, you can let them know you are planning this event, then give them a date and time to pick up the Halloween Scavenger hunt checklist. Consider also giving them a small Halloween goodie bag or some sort of Halloween craft is a fun way to tie this event together.
If you don’t want to get friends involved, just have your children look for the items at your home.

Host A Virtual Halloween Party
Celebrate Halloween from a distance. Plan a virtual Halloween Party with friends. Dress up in costume, prepare some Halloween snacks and just have fun Zooming with friends.
Have A Halloween Movie Night
So many great Halloween movies out there (Hocus Pocus anyone?). Plan a family Halloween movie night marathon. Make your favorite Halloween snacks like these Hocus Pocus Brownies or Cauldron Corn. You can also do this virtually with friends too. Amazon has a new app called Amazon Watch Party that you can try so that everyone can watch together.
Or, you can host an outdoor Halloween movie night with friends and family. You can use an outdoor inflatable movie screen and watch your favorite Halloween movie. Spread everyone out so they are at the proper social distance, serve some snacks and drinks and they will still have a lot of ghoulish fun!

Why not decorate your own Halloween face masks so you can social distance with your friends this year. Grab some plain white face masks (like these) and use fabric paint, fabric markers or stamps to decorate them in a Halloween-theme. You child’s can even incorporate your mask into your child’s costume.
My Favorite Halloween Craft Supplies
Plan a Neighborhood No Contact Trick Or Treating Night
This idea may take a little community coordination, but you can still trick or treat door to door in your neighborhood while practicing a socially distanced Halloween. Here are some no-contact trick or treating alternatives.
Leave a bowl of candy on your porch. You can greet your visitors at your door and set up a table with candy or treats. Get your crafty side on and make this fun Witch Candy Holder or this Teal Pumpkin treat holder to for an allergy-friendly option.
Host A Virtual Costume Party
Put your costume on, hop on a Zoom with your friends and celebrate. You can even vote on the best costumes, scariest costume, funniest costume too. Prize ideas for the winners can be e-gift cards to purchase things online.
Host A Virtual Pumpkin Decorating Contest or Halloween Craft Party
It’s not Halloween without pumpkin carving! And even if you don’t like the mess it creates, you can have a no-carve pumpkin contest or craft party. Everyone can meet outside or somewhere where the mess won’t take over and carve away.
Make sure everyone is prepared ahead of time by giving them a list of suggested supplies they will need to participate. The pumpkin will definitely be the most important part.
Play your favorite Halloween music and carve or craft away!

Boo Your Neighbors, Family & Friends
Have you ever been booed? It is a fun Halloween tradition that seems to becoming more popular. The thought behind this fun Halloween idea is to leave a surprise goody bag on someone’s porch. Fill it with treats, candy or even baked goods. Attached a note that says “You’ve been booed.” It can be anonymous or you can sign your name.
