What Will I Need to Make Chicken Rice Soup?
If you’re going to make the Chicken Rice Soup from scratch, it’s important to have a few essential ingredients, including minced onion, diced celery, chicken broth, cooked chicken, white rice, and a few other simple, easy-to-find ingredients. All ingredients are readily available in grocery stores.
Which type of chicken broth do I need to use?
You can use any chicken broth that you personally prefer. Some people like to use reduced-sodium chicken broth to reduce their salt intake. You can choose any brand of chicken broth that you prefer, too.
Why do I need to add the onions and garlic?
Sauteing onions and garlic in the stockpot will add more flavor to your broth. As a result, your Chicken Rice Soup will taste even better. And, don’t worry! Even if you’re not the biggest fan of onions, the flavor isn’t too overpowering.
What type of chicken do I need to use?
You can use any type of cooked chicken. I like to use a rotisserie chicken that I have shredded to pieces and then added to the broth with the rice and other ingredients. This adds a delicious flavor to the soup.
Can I use brown rice instead of white rice?
Yes, you can use brown rice in the recipe instead of white rice. However, it may alter the flavor of the soup a bit. Some people do prefer using brown rice, in general, so it’s fine to swap the white rice for the brown rice if that is what you like best.
How long will it take to make the Chicken Rice Soup?
It doesn’t take much time to prepare the Chicken Rice Soup. In fact, it should take you roughly 30 minutes from start to finish. You’ll spend a few minutes chopping your onion, celery, and other ingredients.
Then let the onion and garlic saute for four minutes before cooking everything except the chicken together in the pot for 12 minutes. Once you’ve cooked those ingredients for 12 minutes, you can add the chicken and cook the soup for a few more minutes before serving it.
How do I store leftovers?
Place any leftover soup in a large plastic container with an airtight lid. Keep your leftovers in the fridge to keep your soup fresh for at least three days. If you want to save it for a longer period, you can freeze the soup.
