I think it is safe to say that the all mighty crescent roll is so versatile. It’s one of those staples that I always keep in my refrigerator. From sweet to savory recipes, a roll of crescent rolls can be used so many different ways. Since football season is coming to an end and we are gearing up for the big game, I whipped up a batch of these tasty Ham and Gorgonzola Bites to serve while watching the game. Things are getting pretty exciting around here since our hometown team is playing in this year’s game. So preparations are underway in Melissa’s kitchen to have a super line up of super food for the super big game.

I am a cheese lover. I seriously have not met a slice of cheese that I didn’t like. That includes the sharp and earthy Italian blue cheese Gorgonzola. Gorgonzola is one of those cheeses that you only need to add a little amount of for big flavor. I love to add it to salads and even top my burger with it. For this recipe, ham and gorgonzola pair up to create this easy Ham and Gorgonzola Bites recipe.

The filling for these bites is pretty basic – cream cheese, seasoning, gorgonzola, and ham. Unwrap the “jack in the box” (I mean crescent roll container), and roll out on a lined baking sheet. Press so there are no perforations. You should have a 12″ x 9″ rectangle. Use a knife or pizza cutter to make 24 squares. Add one teaspoon of the filling in the center of each. Fold each bite over like an envelope.

These bad boys only take about 12-15 minutes to bake too. For your party prep, these can be served hot or cold. You can prepare in advance and then pop in the oven when ready to eat.

Ingredients

• 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
• 8 oz. finely chopped ham
• 1/2 cup gorgonzola cheese
• 4 ounces cream cheese softened
• 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
• 1 tablespoon brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Mix cream cheese, gorgonzola, ham, mustard, brown sugar and garlic powder together.
3. Unroll crescent rolls onto a lined baking sheet. Press into 12 x 9 rectangle, sealing perforations.
4. Use a knife or pizza cutter to make 24 squares in the dough.
5. Add one heaping teaspoon of the filling to the center of each square.
6. Fold four corners over and pinch to seal
7. Bake 12-15 minutes at 375 degrees.
