Heart-shaped treats are fun to make any time of the year. It definitely does not need to be Valentine’s Day to make these Heart-Shaped Pies but it certainly is a perfect reason to make a batch. And of course, this pie recipe is pretty versatile too. You can easily change the shape by swapping out the heart cookie cutter for another style. And if you are not a fan of cherries, use a different variety of canned pie filling. Easy peasy!
What Ingredients Do I Need To Make this Cherry Hand Pie recipe?
Refrigerated Pie Crust or Homemade Pie Crust
Cherry Pie Filling
Egg
Sugar
How To Make Cherry Hand Pies?
Step 1
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Unroll pie crust and use the heart cookie cutter to cut out eight heart shapes into the pie crusts.
Step 2
Place four of the pie crusts on an ungreased baking sheet and place a spoonful of cherry pie filling in the center of each heart.
Step 3
Top each pie crust with another heart. Use a fork to seal the edges together. Cut slits in the top of each crust. Use a pastry brush to brush egg on top of each pie, then sprinkle with sugar.
Bake pies in the preheated 425-degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until pie crusts are golden brown. Allow to cool completely before serving.
