Do I Have to Buy Pillsbury Grands Biscuits?
Absolutely not! If your local grocery doesn’t carry Grands, you can use any brand or style available. Just be sure to get the full-sized ones, not the miniature ones. Although the miniature biscuits would make some pretty adorable, tiny donuts!
What do I do if I don’t have a small biscuit cutter or large piping tip?
Never fear! You can use almost anything to cut holes in the center of the biscuits. The lid of the oil you use is often a great size for cutting the donut holes. The lid of a 2-liter bottle works, too. In a pinch, you can use a knife and cut them by hand, but that will take a lot longer and be a smidge frustrating.
These easy air fryer donuts will be just as good.
How Do I Know When the Glaze is the Correct Consistency?
The beautiful thing about the glaze is that it is super hard to ruin. If the glaze is too thick and the donut breaks if you try to dip it in and pull it back out, add a little milk or water. If the glaze immediately runs completely off the donut when you dip it, try adding some more powdered sugar.
Better a little runny than not runny enough! A thin glaze will just add a lot less glaze to the donut. You can also pour the glaze over the donuts. Just be sure to add some parchment paper under the cooling rack first, so you don’t make a huge mess!
Can I Try Other Glaze Flavors for these homemade donuts?
Please do! You can try a variety of different flavors of glaze by simply adding one teaspoon of flavored jello mix to the glaze. Some traditional glaze flavors include lemon, strawberry, cherry, or raspberry. You could also divide the glazes and make lots of different flavors for a make-your-own donut bar!
A few more topping options include powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar. Simply put your choice of topping in a bowl, put the air-fried donuts in the bowl, then toss them in the topping.
