Why You’ll Love This Homemade Guacamole
- It’s easy to make with only a few ingredients, such as avocados, Roma tomatoes, jalapenos, and more.
- The Guacamole is full of flavor and pairs well on all kinds of foods, making it great to have at home!
- You can do so much with this versatile Guacamole, whether you want to spread it on toast, serve it with a side of scrambled eggs, or even add it to a homemade burrito bowl.
Guacamole Ingredients
- Avocados – Use three avocados for this recipe. You will need to make sure they’re ripe!
- Roma Tomatoes – Add two roma tomatoes to your mashed avocados for additional flavor and an acidic touch.
- Jalapeno – Dice your jalapeno into small pieces to give this dish a bit of a kick.
- Lime – Slice a lime in half and squeeze the excess juice out, adding it to your avocado.
- Red Onion – Dice ½ a red onion into small pieces to toss into your bowl with the other ingredients.
- Cilantro – Chop fresh cilantro into small pieces and then combine with your other ingredients. The cilantro adds even more flavor to the guacamole.
As a finishing touch, sprinkle some salt and pepper into your bowl with the avocado, tomato, jalapeno, and more.
Recipe Notes
- It’s important to use ripe avocados when making guacamole. You can check if they’re ripe by gently pressing on them. If they feel too hard, they’re likely not ready to be used yet.
- If you don’t want this guacamole to have a kick to it, you can omit the jalapenos from the recipe. However, adding a bit of jalapeno won’t make it too spicy. You can also make it spicier by adding more jalapeno into the mix.
- Keep the pit of the avocado and place it in the bowl with your guacamole to help keep it from browning too quickly.
Guacamole FAQs
Can I add extra ingredients to this guacamole?
Yes! If you’d like to make a Southwestern version of it, you can toss some sweet golden kernel corn and black beans into your bowl with avocado, tomatoes, and more.
Do I need fresh lime juice or can I use bottled lime juice?
I’d recommend using the juice of a fresh lime because it has a naturally delicious flavor and goes great with the avocado. However, if you don’t have fresh lime juice, you can use the bottle kind as a substitute.
How do I store the Guacamole to keep it fresh?
Put your guac in a container with a lid, place the pit of the avocado into the container, and then cover with plastic before sealing with a lid. Put your container in the fridge, where your guacamole should stay fresh for up to three days.
