Happy September! School is in session. Fall is in the air! And cooler temperatures are on the horizon (hopefully). I love this time of year! It’s the time of year when everything apple and pumpkin goes into overdrive! Our farm is bustling with trees full of beautiful red apples and fields dotted with bright orange pumpkins. It’s just a plain old fun time of year.

Fall gets me in a baking and cooking mood. During this season, we crave warm comforting food that we took a break from during the hot summer months. I have plenty of fall recipes that I will be sharing with you. First up is a delicious batch of Cinnamon Glazed Apple Fritters. I love fritters!  I even walked out my front door to one of our apple orchards and hand-picked the apples myself. And yes, I literally can walk out my door and be smack dab in the middle of one of the many apple orchards here on our family farm. Pretty cool, huh?

This recipe for Cinnamon Glazed Apple Fritters goes way back. Like back..back. I remember my mom making them when I was very young. And short of telling you my age, I will say that I am almost a half a century old. So that means this recipe originated in mom’s baking arsenal way before then.

I like to use a combination of apples when I bake. I think it adds to the flavor of the recipe. For these fritters, I used Fuji and Ginger Gold Apples.

After mixing the batter, stir in the chopped apples. Drop by tablespoons into hot oil and fry until golden.

Now, you can certainly just add some powdered sugar to the top of each fritter but why stop there? This cinnamon glaze is worth the extra effort.
