Ingredients Needed for the Copycat Starbucks Banana Bread
You’ll need the following ingredients if you’d like to prepare this moist Banana Bread recipe at home:
- Bananas. Be sure to use at least three overripe bananas for this recipe. They’ll need to be super ripe before you get started.
- All-Purpose Flour. Create the base of your banana bread batter using a bit of all-purpose flour.
- Baking Soda. Be sure to get your banana bread to bake evenly and rise by adding some baking soda to it.
- Buttermilk. Use buttermilk to give your banana bread an even better taste. It leaves the bread with an excellent flavor and texture.
- Walnuts. Add some chopped walnuts to your batter.
You’ll also need salt, egg, sugar, and vegetable oil to complete this recipe.
How to Prepare Homemade Banana Bread
Spray your baking pan with cooking spray and add parchment paper to it.
Mix your flour in a medium mixing bowl with baking soda and salt.
Grab a separate bowl and combine the egg, white sugar, and vegetable oil.
Once you’ve combined the wet ingredients, pour over the dry ingredients (flour mixture) and mix.
Next, mash your bananas into small pieces and add them to your bowl with the rest of the mixture.
Add the buttermilk, vanilla, and chopped walnuts, mixing well before pouring the batter into the baking pan, placing it in the oven, and baking for 55-75 minutes. Be sure to add some extra nuts to the top of the loaf before baking.
Use a toothpick or cake tester to check the center of the baked bread to make sure it’s fully cooked before you remove it from the oven.
Quick Break Baking Kitchen Essentials
Do I have to use walnuts?
No, you don’t have to use walnuts. While they add flavor and a slight bit of a crunch to the baked banana bread, you can leave them out if you don’t like them or don’t have them available to use in the recipe.
How long do I need to bake banana bread?
Bake the bread in the oven for up to 75 minutes. It may seem like a long time, but this amount of time allows the ingredients to come together. It won’t dry the bread out, but you’ll need to make sure that you’re keeping the oven at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
If you put it up any higher, you can end up overcooking the Copycat Starbucks Banana Bread, and you certainly don’t want that to happen or you won’t have a moist banana bread!
What should I do if I don’t have buttermilk for the bread?
If you don’t have buttermilk to combine with your ingredients when preparing this recipe, you have two options. You can replace the buttermilk with whole milk or you can make buttermilk at home.
The easiest way to make buttermilk at home is to combine a cup of whole milk in a bowl with a tablespoon of white distilled vinegar or lemon juice. Allow the two ingredients to sit together for 15-20 minutes before using them in your recipe.
Can I use different nuts instead of adding walnuts to the banana bread?
If you don’t want to use walnuts, you can use chopped macadamia nuts, peanuts, or even pecans in your Copycat Starbucks Banana Bread. Some people like to replace nuts with chocolate chips. If you’d like to do that, choose your favorite types of mini chip morses, such as semi-sweet chocolate, white chocolate, or even milk chocolate.
Can I add anything else to this Copycat Starbucks Banana Nut Bread?
Yes, it’s fine to customize this recipe to your liking. For example, you may want to add some chocolate chip morsels into the batter before pouring the batter into the baking dish and baking the bread in the oven.
