Life is better with sprinkles. Sprinkles are the edible version of glitter for me. I love to use them as much as possible when baking. The Halloween season is here and these Halloween Sprinkle Cupcakes are an easy Halloween dessert to make.

What Ingredients Do I Need To Make Halloween Sprinkle Cupcakes?
1 Recipe Chocolate Cupcakes – this is my favorite chocolate cupcake recipe.
OR 1 Recipe Vanilla Bakeshop Cupcakes
Halloween Cupcake Toppers (download here)
Muffin Pan
Unsalted butter, softened
Powdered sugar
Heavy whipping cream
Vanilla extract
Disposable piping bag with medium star tip
How Do I Make Homemade Cupcakes for Halloween?
Mix all ingredients as instructed.
Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full.
Put in the oven and bake for 22 minutes.
Check for doneness. ( Insert a toothpick into the center of a cupcake,
it should come out clean.)
If they are not done, check again every three minutes until they are done.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool.Transfer to a cooling rack and
allow to cool completely before frosting.
Using the black frosting, scoop a small amount into the ice cream scooper and place onto the top of the cupcake and spread slightly into a thick disk.
Pour the Halloween sprinkles into a deep bowl
Dip the top of the cupcake frosting into the sprinkles
Using the piping bag, pipe the orange and white frosting onto the top of the sprinkles.

Halloween Sprinkle Cupcakes
Ingredients
- For Chocolate Cupcakes:
- 1 cup flour
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¾ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- ½ cup sugar
- ⅓ cup Canola oil
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For The Frosting:
- 3 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
- 6 C powdered sugar
- 5-7 tbsp. heavy whipping cream
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3-5 drops of black gel food coloring
- 2-4 drops of orange gel food coloring
- 1 disposable piping bag with medium star tip
- 1 medium ice cream scooper
- 3 C of the Halloween sprinkles
Instructions
To Make Cupcakes:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line cupcake pan with cupcake liners. In a large bowl, add together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, mix to combine.
- Add in the sugar and brown sugar mix on medium speed until combined. Add the oil, buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
- Fill cupcake liner 3/4 of the way full. Bake for 21 minutes. Remove the cupcakes from the oven. Transfer the cupcakes to a wire rack to cool.
To Make The Frosting:
Using a standing mixer combine the butter, powdered sugar, heavy whipping cream, vanilla, and mix on medium speed until combined and smooth.
Set aside 1/2 C of frosting in 1 bowl and mix until combined a few drops of the orange gel food coloring.
Set aside another 1/2 C of frosting in the 2nd bowl and leave this one white.
Scoop the orange frosting onto one side of the piping bag. Scoop the white frosting onto the second side of the piping bag and set aside.
Beat in the black gel food coloring into the remaining frosting.
Decorating Directions :
Using the black frosting, scoop a small amount into the ice cream scooper and place onto the top of the cupcake and spread slightly into a thick disk. Pour the Halloween sprinkles into a deep bowlDip the top of the cupcake frosting into the sprinkles. Using the piping bag, pipe the orange and white frosting onto the top of the sprinkles.
